Adventurous in spirit and curious by nature, Nathalie loves to explore the world and discover new people and places, capturing and creating images along the way.
With over fifteen years of experience in painting and photography, and an extensive background in the arts, Nathalie has a natural eye for the visual image, and a creative flair. She describes herself as ambitious and enthusiastic, interested in anything challenging and creative. Her photography is often inspired by nature and travel, and her paintings - which range from abstracts to landscapes to figures and portraits - epitomize her true passion for life.
Nathalie, who is of Greek-Cypriot and Armenian-Lebanese origin, was born in Canada, and at the age of four moved to Cyprus. She discovered her love for art at a very young age, following it intensely through her education, earning herself an A grade in A’ level Art. She continued her studies at the University of London graduating with a BA Honours degree in Media Arts. Nathalie truly enjoyed studying Art Direction and Production Design for Film and Television, discovering new ways of expressing herself artistically using a vast array of mediums, such as graphic design, digital art and installation. In 1998, her work was selected as the sole representative of the U.K. in the Transimages International Symposium in Italy and Germany. Nathalie continued to paint during her time in the UK and Canada, where she moved to follow her career as a television producer, director and video journalist.
Having returned to Cyprus a few years ago, Nathalie decided to focus on her art full-time, devoting her energy to establishing herself as a professional fine and visual artist. Nathalie's artwork was selected from a multitude of international submissions in the ‘Rolling Frame’ competition, part of the ARCADE Experimental Art Project which exhibited in Nicosia in June 2008. She was the sole artist who presented ‘behind-the-scenes’ art for film and video, exemplifying the fine skills that are involved in the areas of film art, set and costume design, storyboarding, concept art and illustration. Following this, Nathalie was selected, once again, from over 60 international artists, to create an original piece of 3-D art to exhibit as part of the 'Artists' Book Project', a group art exhibition which took place in Cyprus in November / December 2008.
Nathalie's first solo painting exhibition 'Breathing Colours' was opened in November 2008 by the Mayor of Limassol and proved to be a great success. Nathalie welcomed the positive feedback and was inspired to establish herself as an artist who cares about the world and uses her creativity to produce work that has an impact and makes a difference to people's lives. Nathalie's most recent solo painting exhibition entitled 'Spatal'eau', which took place in June 2009, focused on water and the environment. Her aim was to raise awareness on the topic of water shortage and wastage and raise money for charity. Part of the proceeds from all her sales were donated to Friends of the Earth - Cyprus. Nathalie wishes to continue to create work to raise money for environmental, philanthropic and humanitarian causes and NGOs. She is currently working on several future artistic projects, including another solo painting exhibition inspired by movement and dance, to take place locally this year, as well as a future photography exhibition.
Nathalie is also a published freelance writer, regular columnist and journalist for national newspapers, magazines and other international publications and websites. She is currently working on two novels of her own - a fiction book for adults and a fantasy novel for children. She also likes to write and record her own music, songs and poetry. In her spare time - when she finds any - Nathalie enjoys reading, the culinary arts and cake design, playing sports and what nature has to offer.
